Kokioh, MyTOWN Shopping Centre

Image
Crashing the hen party of KL's Korean fried chicken craze, Kokioh is worth a cluck - its Original Crispy flavour is satisfyingly crunchy to the bite, juicy to the chew (RM12 for two drumsticks; other flavour possibilities include Soy Honey to Fire & Fury).  If you want more of that crackly battered goodness, the fried chicken burger is pretty tempting too (RM24). Starchy side options span true-blue Korean skewered spicy rice cakes (RM6) to the Malaysian-inflected santan-cooked rice (RM5; the short-grain rice turns out a tad too soggy in this recipe, without soaking up the flavour of the coconut milk). Wash down with a bottle of makgeolli, the milky, lightly sparkling rice wine (RM28). Kokioh G-038, MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
