Graced by a mural of the late Indian yoga proponent Swami Sivananda Saraswati, garlanded with a sense of soulful serenity, Damai Studio & Cafe lives up to its name, offering a sanctuary from the city's bustle, not only soothing the spirit but nourishing the body, doubling as a physical fitness studio and a health-conscious eatery. Damai's menu was a work in progress when we visited, but customers can expect meat-free mindfulness in categories like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and raw. The selection spans snacks like the Zen Master (RM18.90; skewers of tempeh, shiitake mushrooms, capsicum and cherry tomatoes, with a smoothly creamy house-blended peanut sauce), brunch fare such as the Sweetheart Sunrise (RM20.90, scrambled eggs laced with sweet potatoes and antioxidant-rich moringa leaves), and complete meals like Joy (RM23.90; zucchini 'pasta' drenched in a luscious sauce of activated cashew nuts, miso and herbs). Chocolate might sound like diet-destroying decadenc
