Vanilla Dessert Cafe, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Image
This friendly new dessert den promises a plethora of house-made ice cream, served parfait-style, with waffles or on their own. Since we visited on a Monday, it seemed most appropriate to order the Mondae Blue, bringing a splash of cheerful colour to the start of our week with vanilla ice cream layered with fresh strawberries, almond crumbles, caramelised macadamia nuts, digestive biscuits and strawberry sauce (RM18). There's also a T.G.I. Fridae that features chocolate ice cream with bananas. The waffle selection is extensive; for a triple dose of chocolate, have the chocolate waffle with 62 percent dark chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramelised bananas and digestive biscuits, a hefty waffle that two persons can easily share (RM23). Ice cream costs RM10 per smooth scoop, in flavours like Alphonso mango (rich and punchy), coconut, pistachio and matcha. Vanilla Dessert Cafe 104a, Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Open Wednesday-Monday, 1pm-10pm. The ...

Twelve Slices Cafe, Wangsa Maju

Image
One slice might not suffice at Twelve Slices, which showcases house-baked indulgences that may seem irresistible to cake cravers.  Start perhaps with the Pandan Gula Melaka (RM14), then move on to the heavier-flavoured Nutella Mille Crepe (RM15.50) and Devil’s Chocolate Cake (RM16), indulgently dense without being too sugary or cloying. With a view of the twin towers in the distance, and a soundtrack dominated by young divas from Demi Lovato to Zara Larsson, this relatively secluded, compact cafe - with barely half a dozen tables inside - might fare well for a teatime catch-up session.  Note that not every variety of cake is available each day, but the rotating selection might include Victoria Lemon Cakes, Rose Pistachio Cakes, pavlovas, puffs and puddings. Twelve Slices Cafe G-10, Seasons Garden Residence, Jalan 26/26, Seksyen 10, Wangsa Maju, 53300 Kuala Lumpur. Open Tuesday-Friday, 1pm-930pm; Saturday-Sunday, 12pm-10pm. Closed Mondays and public holidays. This post first ap...

Banish your Thursday troubles and Monday blues at Yzen Frozen Yogurt, which has launched fresh new bargains for tasty tubs and sumptuous scoops of its flagship purple sweet potato froyo, every Thursday and Monday. Mark your calendars for Thursdays, which are now Takeaway Thursdays: Bring home a tub of Yzen's froyo at substantially lower prices - one tub for RM22.30 (normal price RM29), two tubs for RM42.30 (normal price RM55) or three tubs for RM60.80 (normal price RM79). These tubs are packed to the brim with roughly 400 grams of Yzen's smooth, fructose-free froyo, the perfect treat to bring home to the family for a relatively wholesome dessert. Customers can also add RM4 each for their choice of an array of t...

Image
Serving souffle pancakes and bubble tea, Hotcake hits the sweet spot for Sri Petaling, with another offshoot planned in Damansara Uptown soon. These Japanese-inspired hotcakes, a tad denser than typical, are available in seasonal flavours like the current Taro-bly Yummy Red Bean, showered with purple yam sauce and adzuki beans (RM17.90).
